Macabre...ish Horror Review: 28 Days Later

28 Days Later, 2002/ 1 hr 53 min. The world is going through an apocalyptic event. People are being attached and infected with rage, which is transmitted through bodily fluids. Once infected, they are highly contagious and the infection, while not deadly, turns people into violent and aggressive zombie like monsters. Who then go on to attack and infect more people.

The movie begins with some animal rights activists breaking into a facility, housing infects chimpanzees, upon releasing them, they’re immediately attacked and infected. Thus beginning, the pandemic.

This story is about a few people coming together to survive the living blight that England has become, hoping to find a safe place or rescue. London bike courier, Jim (Cilian Murphy) wakes from his coma,

having missed the disaster, was heading home, on foot, when he meets Selena (Naomie Harris). When Jim is set upon by ragers, Selena and her partner, Mark (Noah Huntley), rescue him.

Later, Selena and Jim are joined by Frank (Brendan Gleeson) and his daughter, Hannah (Megan Burns) on their way to a post, that supposedly has survivors. They arrive to find soldiers, barely hanging on themselves.

When they, (Jim, Selena and Hannah) try to leave, they are refused because the men there were promised women. Now the group must not only fight to survive ragers but also desperate people, meaning to do them harm.

This is a good movie. Expect plenty of blood, bodies and nudity. It’s an English zombie like, apocalyptic horror, set in England.
