Macabre…ish Horror Review: Baby Oopsie

Baby Oopsie, 2021/ 1 hr 10 min

A woman, Sybil Pittman (Libbie Higgins),  collects and refurbishes dolls. She lives at home with her abusive bitter step mother, Mitzi (Lynne McPherson), who makes her miserable and treats her like a servant.   She has bullies in town, constant crap at work. The bullying never ends. So Sybil fills her free time working on her dolls and making videos for her online show called All Dolled Up.

One day she gets a package, it’s gnarly vintage doll parts that were obviously purposely destroyed, so she gets to work refurbishing it, immediately. She soon finishes it and it’s name is Oopsie. It is clockwork and talks and moves. Even though the doll is finished, it is still disturbing. And once Cybil adds the last piece, it is up, running and evil.

Oopsie immediately gets to work and takes off at night to a local bully’s house and makes him pay. Also, as Sybil sleeps, Mitzi is collecting her dolls and hiding them. But don’t worry, Oopsie’s got something for her too and it’s going to be gruesome.

Once Sybil realizes the doll did something to her step mother, she searches for it so no one else gets hurt. But the doll is hell bent on killing everyone who tormented Sybil and consuming their souls. The doll convinces Sybil to help by disposing of the bodies and becoming a party to the murders.

When she finally does an internet search about the evil doll, she discovers a conspiracy theory and bringing hell on earth with an army of dolls. And she’s determined to stop it.

This Full Moon movie is a fast moving, low budget but unexpectedly pretty good, very gory and bloody film. The physical effects are pretty good and CGI is just ok. The end of the movie is sort of unexpected and really wacky but honestly it is what I expect from Full Moon.
