Macabre…ish Horror Review: Cold Prey 2

Cold Prey 2 (Fritt Vilt 2), 2008/ 86 min

Jannicke (Ingrid Bolsø Berdal) survives and finds help from a passing police officer and is taken to the hospital and when she wakes up she has quite a story to tell. About her and 4 friends came to snow board and when one broke his leg, they took refuge in an abandoned lodge. But it wasn’t abandoned, they all fought for their lives but her friends didn’t make it. And all of them ended up discarded in a glacial crack, including the killer, who she attacked.

A search is sent to the glacier and the lodge was searched for clues. All the while the remains of her friends and the killer are recovered and brought to the hospital where Jannicke is recovering.

When she finds out that the mountain man is  there Jannicke freaks out! One of the nurse’s, Camille (Marthe Snorresdotter Rovik), notes her reaction and when it’s noticed he has signs of life, she is afraid. Jannicke warns them not to resuscitate him. She screams, tries to stop them  but ultimately she is restrained, the doctor in charge does not listen.

Meanwhile, the police chief searches through files of missing people and discovers this has been happening for decades. The recovery team is sent deeper into the dumping ground and finds so many more bodies. This has been going on a long time.

As expected, the mountain man’s first act upon rising is to kill the closest cop. And soon, just about everyone else in the building. When the calvary does come, they have the information and is taking this seriously but without the experience of surviving him, like Jannicke, they don’t have a real chance. But she’s gonna go further and try to kill him.

Great follow up to the original and direct continuation and with the same actress. They did not lose any steam with this sequel, it was just as intense, violent and graphic as the first. Jannicke is more of a fighter and gives us some strong Ripley vibes. It was a great follow up. Stay tuned for Cold Prey 3.
