Macabre...ish Horror Review: Ghostbusters

 

Ghostbusters, 1984/ 105 min. After some friends, Dr. Venkman (Bill Murray), Dr. Stantz (Dan Aykroyd) and Dr. Spengler (Harold Ramis) who are also scientists lose their positions after their grant is suspended at a New York University, they decide to start an agency that specializes in tracking and capturing ghosts. 

 

After acquiring an old firehouse, ambulance and a no nonsense receptionist, Janine Melnick (Annie Potts). The Ghostbusters are in business.

 

They soon become so busy that they hire a fourth member, Winston Zeddemore (Ernie Hudson). The city is under siege and the ghost activity is getting out of hand and The Ghostbusters are the only people in town with a solution to the problem.

 

They discover a much larger issue  2 people, Dana Barrett (Sigourney Weaver) and Louis Tully (Rick Moranis) they live in the same building and are possessed by demons. And at the same time, the E.P.A have challenged and interfered with the Ghostbusters means of ghost quarantine and disposal method, resulting in all of the previously captured ghosts being re-released back into the City. 

 

They must now recapture all the ghosts and confront the now corporeal demons on the roof top of a residential building, to summon a Sumarian God to bring about the end of the world and cause the City to fall into further chaos.

 

Great 80s horror comedy, more like a comedy with some ghosts thrown in! Good effects, good characters and lots of recognizable faces.
