Macabre…ish Horror Review: I Spit On Your Grave 2

I Spit On Your Grave 2, 1 hr 46 min

Katie (Jemma Dallender) is a model who works part time in New York, after getting photos done to update her portfolio the photographer becomes infatuated with her and tries to convince her to take nude photos, which she declines.

She wakes up later that night to find the photographer, Georgy (Yavor Baharov) in her apartment and recording her sleeping. She tazes him in his face and runs away but he chases her and drags her back in. He rapes her.

Her neighbor, Jayson (Michael Dixon) tries to save her but is killed for his effort. And Georgy calls his brothers, Ivan (Joe Absolom) and Nickolay (Aleksander Aleksiev) to help his get out of this mess. They cook up a plan to over dose her on drugs. She wakes up bound and gagged in a basement being raped, humiliated and debased by all the brothers now.

She manages to escape but finds herself in an entirely different city. When Katie finds help, she is told she is in Bulgaria and is told that a rape crisis counselor, Ana (Mary Stockley), will assist her, only to find out that she knows the men who did this to her and is their mother. And Katie ends up right back where she started but it’s worse now.

After, more rape and torture, Katie is buried alive. But the bottom of the box breaks and she falls out into a sewer system. She seeks refuge in a church but she has no plans to leave Bulgaria without seeing these monsters again. They will all pay for what they did.

This is not a continuation of the first but it is arguably worse and more graphic concerning the treatment of Katie. I muted a good bit of it because the sounds were almost more disturbing to hear than what was on the screen. It is very graphic and bloody but this is a movie that suggests a lot more than it shows. Having said that there is a lot of blood and torture in this one and nudity. The second half of the movie is definitely more graphically gory and disgusting. Both English and Bulgarian is spoken. Trigger Warning for everything and everyone.
