Macabre...ish Horror Review: The Lost Boys

The Lost Boys, 1987/ 98 min. Brothers Sam (Cory Haim) and Michael (Jason Patric) move with their Mom, Lucy, (Diane Wiest), back to granddad’s house, in Santa Clara, Ca. Granddad is the best kind of eccentric, hilarious with a house full of taxidermy animals!

Sam gets to work looking for a friends and a job and finds the latter in the local comic book store owned by the parents of 2 quirky brothers, Edward (Corey Feldman) and Alan (Jamison Newlander). They’re obsessed with horror comics and vampire lore and they are ready in the event of an attack. Michael falls for Star (Jamie Gertz) who belongs to the leader of a gang, (David) of Vampires.

Oh and Mom, she falls for Max, one of the gangs creator, who unbeknownst to her, is also a vampire. It would seem as if this town has an open secret, a terrible vampire infestation and to go along with it a shocking number of missing people. When Sam and Michael’s family refuse to join their vampire family then it’ll costs them their lives. Unless they fight back.

Not slot of blood and guts in this one. Well no human blood anyway. More horror comedy with a healthy dose of suspense if anything. Plus a good soundtrack!
