Macabre...ish Horror Review: The Nest

The Nest, 1988/ 89 min.

If you liked arachnophobia, you may enjoy the roach version!

This tiny island town is about to have a huge infestation problem. And not a normal one either, first it begins as a normal infestation. You know, giant roach hiding on the inside of that cup of coffee, you’re about to drink. To a tide of roaches moving across the land, to terrify and eat your pet dog, leaving a carcass behind.

Add quickly graduates to humans in a similarly horrific fashion. The locals are mystified by their missing and slaughtered pets and by the time they realize their town is plagued by mutant roaches, it might be to late to find a way to stop them.

Little do they know that, there have been some secret, corporate funded experiments happening in town. And the extent of the problem is crazy. It’s not simply an infestation, they’re evolving. And there are creatures walking around, that should not exist.

I’m telling you right not, if you hate roaches. Don’t bother, they start at the credits. Animal lovers, dogs, cats and rats, this movie has graphic animal death scenes. You have been warned. It is gross, graphic, bloody, gory, juicy...the practical effects are pretty intense for a roach movie.

Fun movie with so many unexpected, great twists! And roaches freak me all the way out. I yelled at the tv alot, it was relentless!
