Macabre...ish Horror Review: Wrong Turn 2: Dead End
Wrong Turn 2: Dead End, 2007/ 1 hr 37 min. A group of strangers head out to West Virginia for a spot in a survival themed reality show, the winner gets a $100,000 cash prize! Except, this show is being filmed in the forested hunting grounds of violent, inbred cannibals, so the real prize is your life, if you can survive.
The host and mentor for this reality adventure show is retired Marine Colonel, Dale Murphy (played by Henry Rollins!!). The adventures are set for a week of foraging for food, battling nature and survival challenges. Within the first 5 minutes of the minute, the first arrival runs over a native (read: cannibal) and it almost immediately killed after he chews off her lips when she tries to perform mouth to mouth on him. Graphic gore, right out of the gate!
The cast of characters is colorful and entertaining, typical horror movie young adult fare. The kills are still interesting, graphic and gory. The movie pacing and kill pacing are good, you never have to wait too long for something to happen. Expect some nudity and adult scenes, graphic kills and plenty of blood, guts and gore.
For the second in a series of 5, Wrong Turn continues to be good, gory low budget fun. I really like the reality show story and Henry Rollins is a bonus!
P.S. I appreciate the support Horror Fans! You people are the best kind of people!!
